Safety is top of the agenda at KONE, and it is our strong belief that all accidents are preventable.
Safety
Safety is a joint effort
Safety involves everyone from technology and maintenance service providers to building owners and equipment users. We have global policies, processes, and guidelines in place to enable that our business activities, including subcontractor operations, are organized and conducted in a structured and globally harmonized way.
Everyone who uses an elevator or escalator needs to be conscious of their own behavior, for example making sure children’s hands are held when riding an escalator, and not blocking closing elevator doors.
Building owners and maintenance service providers are responsible for making sure equipment is professionally maintained and kept in good condition.
Using elevators properly helps ensure a safe and comfortable ride for everyone. Follow these simple tips to prevent injuries.
WHEN LOADING AN ELEVATOR
Do not overload or exceed elevator capacity when you are moving heavy or large items. Look for a service or a freight elevator or use the stairs instead.
BEINGPATIENT
If the car is full, be patient and wait for the next ride. Do not overload and exceed elevator capacity.
ENTERINGAN ELEVATOR
When you enter the elevator, walk to the back of the car, face forward and keep away from the doors.
CHILDREN AND ELEVATORS
Children must always be accompanied by an adult, and their hands should be held for the duration of the ride. Pets should be kept close on the leash.
MINDINGYOUR STEP
Watch your step when entering or exiting the elevator, as it may not be level with the ground.
BEING OBSERVANT
If you notice something unusual about the elevator, e.g. broken mirror or noise, inform the facility management or the maintenance company.
HOLD THE DOOR
Use the door opening button to hold a car for another person.
WHEN NOT TO USEAN ELEVATOR
Do not use elevators in case of fire or other emergency.
ACTING SENSIBLY
Do not play in or around an elevator.
OPENING THE DOOR
Do not attempt to keep doors open by placing objects or body parts in their way. Use button to open the door instead.
IF TRAPPED
If trapped in the elevator, press the alarm button and wait for the service center to help. Do not attempt to get out on your own.
